For waste and recycling sites
Daily site checks, recorded so you can find them again.
Permitted waste and recycling sites walk the same checks every day: fire prevention, storage and containment, drainage, plant and the site boundary. Amberhold puts those checks on a phone, against your own limits, and keeps the record of who checked what, when, and what they found.
Tell us what you check and we send a short recording of a similar round, walked on our fictional demonstration plant. No meeting needed. Or send one blank check sheet and we rebuild it free.
“Your environmental permit requires you to have a written management system.”
Amberhold does not replace that system. It records the routine checks your system and your fire prevention plan already describe, so that they can be produced when someone asks.

Examples. Your round is built from your own sheet, in your words and your order. The UK regulations behind these checks →
Fire prevention
- · Pile sizes and separation distances
- · Pile temperatures
- · Quarantine area kept clear
- · Fire water and extinguishers in place
Storage and containment
- · Bunds intact and free of rainwater
- · Drums labelled, lidded and segregated
- · Tank levels against your limits
Drainage
- · Interceptors and gullies
- · Spill kits stocked
- · No spills or run-off
Plant and mobile equipment
- · Pre-use checks on loaders, balers and shredders
- · Defects reported in the operator's own words
Site boundary
- · Fencing and gates secure
- · Litter and pests
Quantities and readings
- · Stored quantity in each bay against the maximum in your management system
- · Readings your own system puts on a round, against your limits (not the monitoring or sampling your permit specifies)
On the plant, on a phone
QR labels on storage bays, bunds and containment points, scanned on a phone as the round reaches each one.
Know what was checked. See what was found. Retrieve the evidence.
The limit at the time
Each reading is kept with the limit that applied when it was taken. Change a limit next year and last year's readings still show what they were judged against.
What was found
A reading beyond your action limit is flagged as it is entered and listed under Needs attention until someone with that permission records a decision on it.
Nothing rewritten
A correction adds an entry. The earlier reading stays, attributed and marked as superseded.
Missed checks stay visible
A missed round stays on the board as overdue until it is completed late or acknowledged with a reason.
Temporary controls
When something is out of action, such as a fire system, a bund or a machine, declare it as a temporary control, with a reason. A check is scheduled each shift while it stays in place, and it is cleared with a reason. Nothing expires on its own.
Any day, retrieved
Open any finished round later and see what was recorded, in the words, units and limits that applied on the day. Export your records whenever you want.
Straight talk
Amberhold is not a waste-tracking or duty-of-care system, it does not write your fire prevention plan, and it does not replace formal environmental monitoring. It records the routine checks you define and keeps them retrievable. Meeting each permit condition stays your responsibility: a recorded check shows the check was done; it is not evidence of permit compliance.
If your paper sheets are complete, easy to search and nobody has asked to see last March, they may be enough. Amberhold is for the day somebody asks.
Questions we actually get asked
- Is this a fire prevention plan tool?
- No. Your fire prevention plan stays yours. Amberhold records the routine checks it sets out, such as pile temperatures, separation distances and the quarantine area, with who checked, when, and against which limit.
- We run more than one permitted site. Does that work?
- Yes. Each site runs its own rounds and schedules, daily, every shift, weekly or monthly, and people who work across sites switch between them in the app. Pricing is per operating unit, never per user; for most customers that is one site.
- What does it cost?
- A monthly subscription per operating unit, with no long contract. For most customers an operating unit is one site; a larger facility can start with one plant or area. Founding Sites: no setup fee and £350 a month per operating unit, stop any month; or a fixed three-month pilot for £950.
