Amberhold turns the rounds your operators already walk into guided, scheduled work with an append-only record behind every reading. Who walked it, when, what they found, what they flagged — and just as honestly, what didn't happen.

A round is a competent person laying eyes on running plant.

Between maintenance interventions, the operator round is the only structured look your plant gets. It exists to catch what instruments don't alarm on — the gland that's started to weep, the bearing that feels warmer than it did yesterday, the valve vibrating a little more than normal, the faint hiss of steam getting past the packing, the level that's in range but trending the wrong way.

That only works if the round actually happens, covers the right points, and leaves a record someone can stand behind later. A round that can't be evidenced protects nobody — not the operator who walked it, not the manager who scheduled it, not the site when an inspector asks to see it.

Paper rounds drift. Every plant knows it:

  • Sheets filled in from the mess room, the same value every shift for a year.
  • Readings still collected for a gauge that came out last outage — and none for the equipment that replaced it.
  • An abnormal note in the margin that nobody actioned, and nobody can now find.
  • A binder that proves nothing except that paper was archived.

Software shouldn't decide whether a pump sounds wrong. The operator does.

Amberhold doesn't replace operator judgement — it preserves it. The reading, the flag, the note about what was seen and heard, kept append-only, so that what a competent person found on the plant is something others can trust later.

What Amberhold does with a round.

Guided walks, point by point

The operator sees each point in walking order, with expected guidance and the previous reading right there at the point. No hunting through a clipboard; no skipping without it showing.

Scheduled, with due windows

Rounds fall due on the schedule the site sets. The board shows what's due, what's overdue and what's been done — a gap is visible instead of vanishing into a stack of paper.

The operator judges; the record preserves

Expected values are guidance for a competent person, not an auto-pass gate. Amberhold records the reading and the operator's judgement faithfully — including the flag they raised and the note they made.

Equipment identity you can scan

QR identity labels printed from Amberhold and attached at the point. A scan confirms the operator is at the equipment the round asked about — it identifies, it never pretends to authenticate.

Append-only by construction

Corrections add entries; they never replace them. Each reading is judged against what the round asked at the moment of capture — later edits to the round can't quietly rewrite last month's history.

Versioned, governed definitions

Rounds are definitions with versions. Changing one is a governed act — permission-checked, recorded in an immutable audit log — so "who changed this round, and was it approved?" has an answer.

Straight talk

Amberhold supports compliance and produces evidence — it never certifies your site, and it never decides applicability for you.

It is not a control system, a historian or an alarm layer: readings are not range-checked automatically, because on a real plant that judgement belongs to a competent operator. It runs in the browser and currently needs a connection; offline capture is in development, and we say so rather than claim it.

Questions we actually get asked

Do we need new hardware?
No. Amberhold runs in the browser on the devices you already have. Equipment identity labels are printed from Amberhold onto standard label stock and attached at the point — no proprietary scanners, no gateways, no site survey.
Does it check readings against limits automatically?
No, and that's deliberate. Expected values appear at each point as guidance for a competent operator — the operator judges whether what they see is normal, and Amberhold records that judgement faithfully. It is an evidence system, not a control system or an alarm layer. Your DCS and your trips do that job; Amberhold proves the human checks happened.
Can operators work offline?
Not yet. Amberhold currently needs a connection while recording; offline capture with a durable local journal is in active development. If parts of your plant are radio-dead, tell us in your enquiry — it directly shapes what we build next.
Is Amberhold a CMMS?
No. Amberhold runs alongside your CMMS or SAP PM, not instead of it. Maintenance work orders, spares and history stay where they are. Amberhold covers what the CMMS never sees: the operating rounds between maintenance interventions, and the evidence that they happened.
What happens to our existing round sheets?
They map across point by point. A round in Amberhold is the same walk you do today — same order, same readings, same checks — expressed as a structured, versioned definition instead of a photocopy. Bring one of your real sheets to a demo and we'll walk it together.
What does it cost?
One subscription per site, priced monthly. We don't publish a price list yet — Amberhold is in early access, working closely with its first live site. Enquire and we'll be straight with you about pricing and fit.
