For chemical plants and COMAH sites
Operator rounds, temporary controls and the record behind your safety management system.
Lower and upper tier alike, your safety management system covers safe operation, equipment condition and monitoring of performance. Records of operator rounds and temporary controls are one kind of evidence a site keeps within it, and Amberhold makes and keeps them. It is built by someone whose background is in plant operations across control room, reactor front end, movements and utilities.
Tell us what you check and we send a short recording of a similar round, walked on our fictional demonstration plant. No meeting needed. Or send one blank check sheet and we rebuild it free.

On the plant, on a phone
Operator rounds walked on a phone, with a QR label at each point identifying the equipment the reading is about.
Know what was checked. See what was found. Retrieve the evidence.
The limit at the time
Each reading is kept with the limit that applied when it was taken. Change a limit next year and last year's readings still show what they were judged against.
What was found
A reading beyond your action limit is flagged as it is entered and listed under Needs attention until someone with that permission records a decision on it.
Nothing rewritten
A correction adds an entry. The earlier reading stays, attributed and marked as superseded.
Missed checks stay visible
A missed round stays on the board as overdue until it is completed late or acknowledged with a reason.
Temporary controls
When something is out of action, such as a fire system, a bund or a machine, declare it as a temporary control, with a reason. A check is scheduled each shift while it stays in place, and it is cleared with a reason. Nothing expires on its own.
Any day, retrieved
Open any finished round later and see what was recorded, in the words, units and limits that applied on the day. Export your records whenever you want.
Straight talk
Amberhold does not connect to your safety instrumented system or DCS, and it is not a permit-to-work or management-of-change system. It does not replace written-scheme examinations or your safety report (upper-tier sites), or your safety management system. It records what your people check and declare, and keeps it.
Whether a regulation applies is for your site to work out, with competent advice where needed. The platform never decides it.
Questions we actually get asked
- Does it work in hazardous areas?
- Your DSEAR assessment decides whether a phone or tablet may go into a zoned area. Amberhold needs no special hardware for QR labels, so it runs in the browser on whatever device that assessment allows. Where none may go in, record the check at the zone boundary.
- Does Amberhold read our safety system or trip bypass status?
- No. It records the overrides, inhibits and bypasses your people declare, keeps each one visible with a check scheduled every shift, and holds the whole history. How a bypass is authorised stays in your own procedure.
- What does it cost?
- A monthly subscription per operating unit, never per user, with no long contract. For most customers an operating unit is one site; a larger facility can start with one plant or area. Founding Sites: no setup fee and £350 a month per operating unit, stop any month; or a fixed three-month pilot for £950.
